While James’ financial planning career began with a college internship, his interest in financial planning started long before he was introduced to Northwestern Mutual. James first started investing in CD’s at the age of eight, mutual funds at the age of twelve, stocks at sixteen and dove head-first into the futures market at 21. Graduating from Texas State University in 2013, James officially launched his financial planning practice, where he has developed a specialized approach for clients working in the maritime industry, tech industry, high-performing sales executives & consultants and business owners.

James has focused his practice and honed his knowledge to be well-versed in the specific needs of doctors, dentists, surgeons, and all specialties in the medical-related field. Whether helping residents establish themselves in their chosen field, or equipping attending physicians with the knowledge to balance a bourgeouning practice with family and fiscal responsibility, James can help with each phase of growth.


Maritime Industry

Working with a broad spectrum of young clients in the maritime industry, including off-shore, where many of his clients have their first or second engineering license, sailing as captain, chief mate, sailing third or as deckhand, or trying to make the transition on-shore, James has educated himself on the unique planning situations in which his clients find themselves. James’ clients in the maritime industry value his strategic view about where they might accumulate dollars.


Technology Industry

While James loves the excitement of working with developers in the startup environment of Austin, he has also worked with several professionals in Fortune 100 companies like Oracle, Dell, Facebook, Ebay and others. From managing the excitement of equity stake to helping busy professionals keep up with changing benefits, estate planning, risk management and investment management, James’ role is to give his clients the flexibility to spend their free time doing the things they love rather than worrying about the future.


Sales Executives & Consultants

With variable incomes, planning can almost be a swear word. We help make sure we are creating flexibility in the lives of our clients, sweeping some chips off the table when times are good and preparing for a potential down-swing. Often working with executives and consultants in the technology sector, James and his team identify potential gaps in employer plans given compensation contract nuances and create strategies to fill those gaps.

An eye for detail and a passion for creative planning, James appreciates the opportunity to advise on corporate structure, executive benefit planning, group benefits, retirement benefits and how all these pieces impact the owners’ families, estate planning and wealth creation.
